My Entries in the WordCamp Boston Logo Contest

Logo 10I was checking out the upcoming WordCamps and ran across this little logo contest. Since my wife is from Boston and Boston is one of my favorite cities I thought I would put a little effort into designing something useful for the this WordCamp. I have no expectations but I found it was quite an enjoyable exercise to create these regardless. I took my inspiration from our founding fathers. Whenever I think of Boston and the greater Boston area I think of all the patriotic men and events behind the founding of this great country. Paul Revere came to mind thus the famous statue of Mr. Revere at the Concord Minuteman National Park is the focal point of the logo. Most people will recognize this silhouette if not as Paul Revere himself at least as an early American Patriot. Anyway, take a look and let me know what you think.

WordPress Logo Sin! Caught in the Act with the Wrong Logo

.net issue 199 cover - logo overlay CorrectI’ve had issue 199 of .net magazine (titled ‘Practical Webdesign’ on news stands in the U.S.) since March 2010 but I’ve just gotten around to busting them on using the wrong WordPress logo. On their cover no less. The wrong WordPress logo problem has been around awhile and it may be due to the fact that the official logos were not readily available for the masses until fairly recently. At least I couldn’t find them in vector form anywhere back in 2004-05.
